Responding to Capacity Building Grants

Responding to Capacity Building Grants

What are capacity building grants and why should your organization pursue these types of grant opportunities? Capacity building grants serve to strengthen areas of your organization’s infrastructure including board, information technology, staff training and development, performance measurement, communications and even resource development. This workshop offers guidance to nonprofit leaders seeking to understand the benefits of capacity building grants and how to develop an appropriate application response. The concepts learned in this workshop will be drawn from examples from the Community Program Accelerator's annual application and other capacity building grants.

Participants will learn:

  • the different terms funders often use in describing their grant making efforts to support the growth and efficient development of nonprofits
  • how to write key sections of capacity building applications
  • how to avoid vague responses to application questions
  • how to effectively communicate the priorities of your organization as well as desired outcomes resulting from a capacity building grant

No prior grant writing experience is necessary for this workshop.
